I play the Gronitz PCK model Tuba CC silver plated. Some call it 6/4 size and some 4/4 I call it 5/4. It was handmade in Hamburg Germany. It is very similar to the York tuba Arnold Jacobs used for many years with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. The bell diameter is slightly bigger than the new Meinal Weston Baer CC model it is also the same height and bore size as the Baer Model. WWW.Gronitztuba.de is the main Gronitz website click on the British flag to view the page in English and also check out the Gronitz players section in the German side of the web site!
I also use the Miraphone 1292 Model Tuba CC silver plated 4/4 size. It was designed by Alan Baer of the New York Philharmonic thus the model name "New Yorker". It is ideally suited for brass quintet and some orchestral pieces. WWW.Miraphone.de
I play a B and S F tuba 5 rotor valves laquered which is now at least 17 years old and still working well. Great for solo playing and high tuba parts in orchestral pieces.
